Serena swears off Dating after Failed Rapper Romances

>> Friday, May 4, 2012

Serena Williams, women’s tennis grittiest fighter has succumbed to something outside the tennis courts – heartbreak. This means that for the 13-time Grand Slam champion and widely regarded as the best tennis player in her generation, LOVE does mean more than ZERO. While on-court, Serena’s tenacity has made her the player to beat often times beating her opponents to simply being hapless spectators, she hasn’t conquered the dating game just yet.

In a recent interview, Serena has expressed her desire to move away from dating in the NEXT DECADE… or so! "I just have to remove myself from that atmosphere for about the next decade or so," Serena said. "I can't get involved." If you take the math seriously, the thirty year old wants romance out the window until she reaches forty. Which leads me to ask, is she not interested in having her own biological children? Wouldn’t she be menopausal by then? Ai, but we regress. I’m sure Serena with her finances ($35+ million in career prize money to date, plus millions annually from endorsements and investments) can afford to have a baby when she’s sixty.

But one may ask why Serena has lost her fight, at least for now, with dating? I think it’s with the quality of her experience. Serena, in the past five years has performed her best during Grand Slams – those tennis tournaments which are performed on the grandest stages of the tennis world. Alas, she hasn’t performed that well in her relationships. During the same time period until recently where she won five of her thirteen Grand Slams, she got involved with a couple of rappers.

First, it was the artist lesser known as Lonnie Rashid Lynn, Jr. or more popularly known as COMMON who had a well documented on-an-off-again relationship with Serena. Common is almost 10 years her senior and had previously dated Taraji P. Henson singer Erykah Badu. Last year, Serena got involved with the rapper DRAKE who describes his music as having a "sex-driven chauvinistic undertone to it". In an interview late Drake described Serena as "definitely in my life and I'm in her life" and that he "really, really loves and cares for her".

And yet, just six months after those bold declarations, the tennis player who never gives up on-court is as defeated as her rival in the 2007 Australian Open final. "I have given up on dating," Serena stated in a recent interview with Celebuzz. "It just hasn't worked out well for me... I'm a really emotional person I give my all and everything. I do make mistakes -- like every human does -- but the last relationship just was too much of heartbreak for me. I just can't go through that anymore. It was hard."

So, DATING has broken Serena to close out their match for now. But as she has previously done, expect a comeback from the former tennis world #1. Not in dating other rappers mind you, but with the French Open, Wimbledon and the Olympics in the near future, her fans are hoping for her to win all three events and prove that her LOVE of tennis can actually be enhanced by her failed rapper romances.
