It will be the first time ever that two-time champion and last year's finalist Rafael Nadal will meet three-time champion Roger Federer in singles action at Indian Wells, but it will be their 28th career meeting overall. Watch the Federer vs Nadal live online stream from Indian Wells 2012 here. Nadal holds an 18-9 advantage in their career head-to-head, and a 4-2 advantage in their last six meetings including a five set victory at the Australian Open 2012 in Melbourne this year. Nadal and Federer both advanced to the semi-finals by beating tough Argentine opponents in contrasting fashion in Friday's live action from Stadium 1.

World # Federer was impressive in his 6-3, 6-2 victory of Juan Martin del Potro. The top Swiss player advances to the semi-finals stage for the seventh time in the last nine years. He will be looking to return to the final for the first time since 2006 when he claimed the last of his three consecutive titles in the event. Federer has now won 11 of the 13 matches he has played against del Potro including four meeting this year. He has now won 13 straight matches and he joins Nicolas Almagro as the only other ATP player this year with 20 wins.

World #2 Rafael Nadal battled past Argentine David Nalbandian 4-6, 7-5, 6-4 on Friday afternoon to reach the semifinals. He lost his first set of the tournament in the first set and came to within two points of defeat in the second set before rallying past the former Wimbledon finalist. Nalbandian double-faulted in the 11th game of the second set and Nadal wasted no time in serving out the set. The Spaniard now leads Nalbandian 4-2 and has won their last four matches. Nadal has now reached the Indian Wells semi-finals for a record seventh straight time. He won the title in 2007 and ’09, and finished runner-up to Novak Djokovic last year.

Nadal on playing Roger Federer: "They’re always special matches, especially because they’re always are in very important matches for both of us... That always makes the match very special. But even if it's not the final, being in the semi-finals is an important match... Playing against Roger always means a little bit more than against the rest of the opponents because I am playing probably against the best of the history, and because I played probably the most important matches of my career against him and probably him against me. That's why it makes the match a little bit more special than the rest."
