>> Saturday, March 17, 2012
American #11-seed John Isner shocks world #1 and defending champion Novak Djokovic to reach the finals of the BNP Paribas Open at the 2012 Indian Wells tennis tournament. Isner won both the first and third set tiebreaks 76(7) 36 76(5) to advance to his first ever Indian Wells final and first ATP tour final of the year. He now awaits the winner of the other semifinal between #2 Rafael Nadal and #3 Roger Federer. Djokovic has now lost in 2 consecutive semi-finals in tournaments where he is the defending champion. He also lost his semi-final against Andy Murray in Dubai last February. Despite the loss, Djokovic will remain as world #1 while Isner now moves into the world's top 10 for the first time in his career. Isner will also be playing in the men's doubles final later in the day.
