>> Friday, February 10, 2012

02/11: The United States are now in the Davis Cup 2012 quarterfinals after beating Switzerland 3-0 on the second day of their 1st round tie. The American team of Mike Bryan and Mardy Fish defeated Olympic champions Roger Federer and Stanislas Wawrinka 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 to win the doubles match and third point in their tie and rendering the 2 reverse singles matches scheduled on Sunday to be meaningless. In Friday's opening singles matches, Fish edged out Wawrinka in a 5-set victory, while John Isner beat Federer in four sets. The United States will now face the winner of the 1st round match-up between Canada and France. The match-up is currently tied 1-1 with the pivotal doubles matched scheduled on Saturday in Vancouver.

02/09: World #3 and 16-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer is leading Switzerland in its 2012 Davis Cup campaign against the United States. For the 2012 Switzerland vs USA match-up, the Swiss are expected to win as they Federer, the home-court advantage, and the surface will be played in indoor clay – a solid surface for the Swiss players, and a shaky one for the Americans. The venue of the tie is at Forum Fribourg, Fribourg, Switzerland.
