7/8 Update: Roger Federer defeated Andy Murray in four sets and will take home the Wimbledon men's singles champion prize money of £1,150,000. | Preview: Before the start of Wimbledon, world no. 3 Roger Federer holds the record of $71,126,377 in men's career prize money. He stands way ahead of the top 10 players who have earned the most prize money earnings in tennis history. The second place player is Rafael Nadal who passed the $50 million mark when he won his 7th French Open title last month. To put Federer's lead in perspective, the $20 million difference that separates him and Nadal is the total career earnings of Andy Murray, the #10 player in the list. By reaching the finals of Wimbledon, Federer assured himself of the runner-up prize money earnings of £575,000. If he wins his 7th Wimbledon title, Federer will take home £1,150,000 and become the world no. 1 player when the new rankings are announced on Monday, July 9.

This year as of June 25, Federer has earned $3,696,441 putting him in third place behind world Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. This year, Federer won four tournaments in Rotterdam, Dubai, Indian Wells, and Madrid and finished runner-up in a Wimbledon tune-up in Halle. He reached the semifinals of both the Australian Open and the French Open losing to Nadal and Djokovic respectively.
