Roland-Garros 2012: AZARENKA Live Stream

The final 16 players remaining in the 2012 French Open singles draw has been decided and the top two seeded players and title favorites remain - world no. 1 Victoria Azarenka and no. 2 Maria Sharapova. Azarenka leads the women singles players in action on Day 8 of Roland-Garros 2012 with a battle with no. 15-seed Dominika Cibulkova for a place in the quarterfinals. Azarenka and Cibulkova have battled each other eight times in the past with Azarenka winning seven of those outings. However, Cibulkova is a strong clay court player reaching the semifinals in 2009 so she will be no pushover. Furthermore, the Slovak player has been in strong form losing an average of less than three games in the previous three rounds.

The Azarenka-Cibulkova match-up will be the second women's singles match at Court Suzanne Lenglen. Earlier in the day on the same court, world no. 10 and top German player Angelique Kerber will be aiming to reach a career high best achievement at the French Open when she tackles unseeded Petra Martic of Croatia. Martic has previously never beaten a top 10 player before the French Open but she eliminated top French hopeful and world no. 8 Marion Bartoli in the first round.

The top player remaining in Azarenka's half of the draw, world no. 6 Samantha Stosur, also will be aiming for a quarterfinal spot. She is going against American teenager Sloane Stephens who is playing in her first ever round of 16 at a Grand Slam event. Sloane will be guaranteed a berth in the London bound US-Olympic women's tennis team if she beats Stosur. That would be a tough match though as Stosur has beaten top players in Roland-Garros previously including a run to the 2010 finals where she beat Justine Henin and Serena Williams in consecutive matches. The first match at Court Philippe Chatrier will be between 2009 winner Svetlana Kuznetsova and no. 21-seed Italian Sara Errani.
