Nadal Live at Roland-Garros 2012

When world no. 2 and tournament favorite Rafael Nadal steps into Court Philippe Chatrier on Saturday, June 2, he will be aiming to reach the round of 16 of the 2012 French Open grand slam tournament. The six-time titlist at Roland-Garros is looking for an unprecedented seventh French Open title, a feat no one has ever achieved in the Open era. His opponent will be a player who grew up in clay courts, the relatively unknown Eduardo Schwank of Argentina. All eyes will be on Nadal as he is expected to cruise into the round of 16, and move just four matches away from breaking yet another record.

After two rounds of action, the six of the eight seeded players in Nadal's quarter of the draw have advanced to the third round matches. The top four seeds in that section are still very much in the hunt, and two Argentine clay court specialists have gate crashed the party. Going for a fourth round spot is no. 8-seed Janko Tipsarevic of Serbia. Tipsaveric would be going against vocal French support when he plays no. 29-seed Julien Benneteau of France. The match is the first of two men's singles matches in the main show court, the other being that of Nadal.

Other featured matches in the last day of third round action features no. 4-seed Andy Murray of Great Britain against Santiago Giraldo of Colombia. Murray has not been feeling well in recent days and it would not be such a big surprise if he falls to the Colombian who undoubtedly would have grown up in the clay courts of South America. Another featured match will be against former world no. 2 Tommy Haas of Germany going against Richard Gasquet of France. This match-up is at Court Suzanne Lenglen. Other top seeds in action include the man expected to reach the semifinals in Murray's quarter of the draw - Spain's no. 2 player and no. 6-seed David Ferrer. Ferrer will be going against Mikhail Youzhny for a round of 16 slot.
