The 2012 Sony Ericsson Open proved once again to be the best sporting event in Miami. The Sony Ericsson Open set an all-time attendance record for the fifth time in six years with 325,000 guests visiting the Tennis Center at Crandon Park over the last two weeks. In 2013, the Miami tennis tournament will be re-named as Sony Open (Tennis). A $1 million upgrade to the player areas inside the stadium will also be implemented. The name reflects the Sony's new brand and name after Sony Ericsson became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sony in February of this year. The 2013 Sony Open will take place March 18-31.
