Azarenka Victoria is Women's Tennis #1

Victoria Azarenka of Belarus becomes the 21st woman player to hold the top ranking after winning the Australian Open 2012 in convincing fashion. Azarenka beat former #1 and 3-time grand slam winner Maria Sharapova of Russia in straight sets to win her first ever grand slam title. Azarenka breaks the string of 3 previous #1 players who reached the top spot without winning a single Grand Slam. These include Jelena Jankovic of Serbia, Dinara Safina of Russia, and Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark.
