Hard to say, what the most important match of the year was. For the men's side, I think it's either the Australian Open Finals, the Nadal vs Soderling fourth round upset, or the Wimbledon finals, which turned out to be a surprisingly competitive match.

I would make it the Wimbledon finals for 2 things - it was arguably the best match of the year + it is the time that Federer eclipsed Sampras 14 grand slams.
